Do you OWN these 13 Virtues?

Do you OWN these 13 Virtues?

I have a question for you.

Before you answer it, I must ask you to not think of your answer, but feel your answer, or envision your answer .

Question:

Why do you do the job your doing?

Write down the first thing that comes to mind, then the second and the third and so on until you finish your list.
It should take about 30 to 60 seconds to answer that question.
If it takes longer you are lost in fear of why your being asked that question.

There is no right or wrong answer, BUT it will just give you a sense of who you are and what your doing.

Hopefully we all make it to the point where we are not “LABORING” and EVENTUALLY DO what we want and EARN SUFFICIENT MONEY

I was told two years ago to stop being the person I am and focus on the life I was given.

Personally I have not allowed the influence of others to dictate who I am or what I should be

I am here today to say that we need to gather the knowledge in order to determine our destination and apply energy daily to continue on that path to personal Abundance.

Reading the Self-Improvement Classics and  being involved with a Master Mind Alliance over the years has helped me chart my course and be the person I want to be.

I  defined my Definite Major Purpose and Business Mindset to continue daily to applying energy to the plan of Action set to provide me a sense of accomplishment, doing what I Love to Do and helping others along the way.

Now to Benjamin FranklinBenjamin Franklin

Even though I don’t agree with all that Benjamin Franklin did in his life as he grew to maturity, he did have great words to live by in his youth, and these words have become part of my daily mental exercise.

In 1726, at the age of 20, Benjamin Franklin devised a list of 13 virtues to live by for as long as possible, in an attempt to “live without committing any fault at any time.”

1. TEMPERANCE: Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation.
2. SILENCE: Speak not but what may benefit others or yourself; avoid trifling conversation.
3. ORDER: Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time.
4. RESOLUTION: Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.
5. FRUGALITY: Make no expense but to do good for others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing.
6. INDUSTRY: Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.
7. SINCERITY: Use no hurtful deceit; think innocently and justly, and, if you speak, speak accordingly.
8. JUSTICE: Wrong none by doing injuries, or omitting the benefits that are your duty.
9. MODERATION: Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.
10. CLEANLINESS: Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, cloaths, or habitation.
11. TRANQUILLITY: Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable.
12. CHASTITY: Rarely use venery but for health or offspring, never to dulness, weakness, or the injury of your own or another’s peace or reputation.
13. HUMILITY: Imitate Jesus and Socrates.

See if you can make a commitment to yourself to read these words twice a day.
Once in the morning when your awake, and once at night before you sleep.
It only takes two minutes a day to meet this commitment and the results you will see could improve the quality of life you are reaching for.

I wanted also to share a poem recorded by good friend and associate, Chuck Bartok.
It was written by Dale Wimbrow, 1895-1954 and is another daily reminder on HOW to own the Mindset for Success in Business and Life in general.

  1. Sam,

Very motivating post. Those virtues can definitely help anyone in business. For someone who is happy in their career, they can be a daily reminder. For someone who is not satisfied professionally, they can help someone figure out what direction they want to go.

Thanks for the post. Hope to connect soon.
