Orison Swett Marden’s An Iron Will, 1901

What I really wanted to focus on today is Marden’s work, An Iron Will, published 1910.

From Wikipedia:

Dr. Orison Swett Marden (1850 – 1924) was an American inspirational author who wrote on success in life and how to achieve it. His writings discuss common-sense principles and virtues that make for a well-rounded, successful life. Many of his ideas are based on New Thought philosophy. His first book, Pushing to the Front (1894), became an instant best-seller and remains a classic in the genre of self-help. Marden later published fifty or more books and booklets, averaging two titles per year. He is also known for his many pamphlets”.

Orison Swett Marden, Author of An Iron WillOrison Sweet Marden is also know as the Founder of Success Magazine in 1897. It was later combined with the a magazine from Clement Stone and and actually Og Mandino was president of the magazine in the 1970’s.

I have been intrigued with several of his pamphlets, most notably An Iron Will and have decided to narrate the entire text and have available to your “listening pleasure”

The one section that struck me the most was section on Persistence

Napoleon Hill said “Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failure.” and not taking that final step

  1. Chuck , your audio is very well spoken and is truly something that people could benefit from. I can see it being great words of inspiration in helping create a new generation of people who care about a work ethic and not one of believing that welfare is a career. Thank you for all you do in sharing your words of wisdom with the world using the tools provided in the world wide web.

  2. I really love the audio. It was read with globally covered audience Ini mind.Am from Nigera, with pleasure, I listen to your voice several times in penetrative states. Thank you, Bartok.

  3. I have always enjoyed listening to your orations. Your emphasis and cadence seems natural and at the same time the delivery keeps the listener engrossed and attentive. Listening to your readings reminds me of the days listening to my grandfather telling me stories when I was a young boy.
